We believe that the stories we share build our future. On the “Commons,” everyone has a story to share and a role in building a world that is more loving, diverse, and equitable. We strive to make our Community Programs culturally responsive and to sustain and deepen relationships across the city and throughout the country. As part of our dedication to access and diversity, we offer all of our programs for free.

Programs

In collaboration with community partners such as Refugee Women Rising, Families in Action, MICAH House, and the Ollie Webb Center, GPTC encourages everyone (especially those who may not see themselves as artists) to tell their stories.

New Works and Artists

Commoners

This is a two-year residency for Omaha and Omaha-adjacent playwrights to grow the support, community, and connection they need to launch their stories into the world.

First First Draft

This program supports emerging playwrights who commit to writing a full-length play for the first time.

Commissions

GPTC periodically works with nationally renowned artists to bring world-premiere scripts to life.

Young Dramatists

GPTC supports high school playwrights with mentoring, workshops, meetings with professional theatre artists, and guided access to the GPTC New Play Festival.
